2012 AND BEYOND: STRATEGIES OF CONSUMER COOPERATIVES
London, 29th & 30th September 2011
2012 has been proclaimed by the United Nations as the International Year of Co-operatives. It is an extremely important opportunity to show the relevance and contribution of the co-operative business model to the sustainable economic, environmental and social development. It is also an opportunity to reflect and prepare for the years to come and lay the ground for consumer co-operatives to take the lead in the retail market in Europe.
This high-level conference for senior managers of consumer co-operatives provided the opportunity for the exchange of ideas regarding the strategies that will follow the International Year of Co-operatives. It was also an opportunity to make contacts, get information and debate in the context of different national environments.
- Facilitate the contacts of consumer cooperatives interested to develop partnerships;
- Exchange information and best practices on the current challenges and opportunities for cooperative businesses.
The topics addressed covered issues such as competition, differentiation, sustainability and member involvement. The debate will allowed for an open exchange of ideas that enriched the knowledge of participants and allowed them to bring back new ideas into their respective organisations.
