Brussels 13 April 2011 - Charlemagne Building - Rue de la Loi 170 - Brussels
Euro Coop is pleased to announce that it will organise in the framework of the European Union Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) 2011 the conference: “Boosting Renewable Energy Supply and In-Store Energy Efficiency”. The event will be held in the morning of 13th April 2011 at the Charlemagne building (Rue de la Loi 170, Brussels).
The objectives of the debate will be to give a snapshot of the EU institutions and environmental NGO standpoints on energy sustainability as well as to present the factual contribution that consumer co-operatives are giving to implement it in their daily operations.
To this purpose, after the welcome address by the Euro Coop President Mr. Aldo Soldi, we will hear about the different positions on energy sustainability from the Chair of the European Parliament ENVI Committee Mr. Jo Leinen MEP, from Mr. Harald Schönberger from the Seville Joint Research Centre as well as from the Vice-President of the EESC Section for Transport, Energy, Infrastructure and the Information Society (TEN) Ms. Ulla Sirkeinen. The NGO point of view will be presented by Mr. Brook Riley, who will speak on behalf of Friends of the Earth Europe.
As to the section dedicated to the consumer co-operatives’ best practices, we will have the pleasure to welcome representatives from Coop Italy, The Co-operative Bank, the Norwegian Coop as well as from the Spanish consumer co-operative Eroski. The event will be chaired and moderated by the Euro Coop Secretary General, Mr. Rodrigo Gouveia.
