Euro Coop Calls for a Strong Green Claims Directive to Combat Greenwashing

Euro Coop has joined leading organizations in signing an open letter urging Members of the European Parliament and EU Ministers to adopt a robust Green Claims Directive.

The directive is essential for combating greenwashing, rebuilding consumer trust, and fostering sustainable consumption across Europe.

The letter emphasizes the need for:

Mandatory pre-market verification of environmental claims to ensure transparency and fairness.
A ban on misleading offsetting practices that do not align with scientific evidence.

These measures are critical to providing consumers with accurate information while supporting genuinely sustainable businesses. By ensuring that environmental claims are credible and verifiable, the directive will advance the goals of the European Green Deal and promote sustainable consumption across the EU.

Euro Coop remains committed to advocating for policies that empower consumers to make informed, sustainable choices.

For more information, read the letter.
