Euro Coop Co-Signs Joint Statement on Pragmatic Approach to Legacy Stocks

Euro Coop has joined other European business organisations in welcoming the common understanding adopted by the Consumer Protection Cooperation (CPC) Network on the treatment of legacy (old) stocks under the Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition Directive (ECGT).
The common understanding provides important guidance on how products and packaging placed on the market before the new rules on environmental claims and sustainability labels become applicable on 27 September 2026 will be assessed by national authorities. It recognises the practical challenges businesses face in implementing the new requirements while helping to avoid unnecessary waste, disproportionate costs, and disruptions to supply chains.
The joint statement also welcomes the constructive cooperation between business organisations, the European Commission, enforcement authorities, and consumer organisations in reaching this pragmatic approach. At the same time, the signatories call for consistent application across Member States and remain committed to supporting the smooth implementation of the Directive across the Single Market.
