Joint letter for climate action and a just transition in EU agriculture

Euro Coop, as part of the Food Policy Coalition, has joined over twenty civil society organizations in signing an open letter addressed to the EU Commission, calling for urgent climate action and a just transition in EU agriculture. The letter emphasizes the need for a transformation of food systems to address the challenges of climate change, biodiversity loss, and food security. The signatories urge the European Commission to adopt binding emission reduction targets for the agriculture sector, develop a sustainable animal farming strategy, and establish an Agri-Food Just Transition Fund to help farmers adopt more eco-friendly practices. The letter highlights the urgency of taking immediate action to prevent the negative impacts of climate change while fostering a resilient and sustainable food system.
